The EU-LAC Foundation followed the VI EuroLat Plenary Session that took place in Santiago de Chile from 23 to 25 January 2013. Among the participants were the President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton.

The bi-regional body consists of 75 representatives from the European Parliament and 75 from the Latin American component. The latter includes representatives from the Parliaments of the major integration processes in the region, as well as Members of the Chilean and Mexican National Parliaments.
