Long Night of the Consulates 2022

On Tuesday 10 May, the EU-LAC Foundation had the pleasure to participate in the Long Night of the Consulates programme in its home city of Hamburg. The Long Night of the Consulates invites consulates and international organisations in Hamburg to open their doors to the general public to present their countries and their work. The event also culminated the Europe Week, which is held annually to highlight the outstanding European and international relations of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

In this context, the EU-LAC Foundation traditionally invites its membership to represent their countries at the Foundation's headquarters in Hamburg. For the 2022 edition, the Consulate General of Ecuador in Hamburg and the Embassy of Honduras in Germany accepted the invitation and presented typical food, products and activities of their countries in the rooms of the Foundation to the citizens of Hamburg.

The activity also brought the work and mission of the International Organisation closer to the people of Hamburg. This year, the Foundation was visited by Senator Andy Grote, President of the Hamburg Ministry of the Interior and Sport, and his wife, Catherine Grote, who attended the opening of the Evening, led by the EU-LAC Foundation's Senior Programme Coordinator, Ernesto Jeger.

Since its establishment in 2011, the EU-LAC Foundation has enjoyed the continued support of the German Government and the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The Hamburg Senate is actively involved in projects initiated and promoted by the EU-LAC Foundation, such as the annual "Latin American and Caribbean Fall Festival" in Hamburg, which will take place for the ninth time in 2022 under the theme "Speaking Languages - Communicating Cultures".
