EU citizenship: between state nationality and supranational citizenship

The European Union is committed to continue strengthening the EU citizenship as a supranational model, through the implementation of legal and enforceable rights, as it has been done since 1992, with the objective of ensuring that its citizens maintain the right to free movement. Nevertheless, Brexit brings new challenges for the EU citizenship and its model of membership as well as challenges for regional integration that are at the centre of the negotiations between the EU-27 and the United Kingdom.  Read paper
