Alberto Brunori, Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation

Alberto Brunori officially took up his duties as Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation on 2024, following his appointment by the organisation's Board of Governors. Brunori, an Italian national with an extensive background in international relations and human rights, leads the organisation in its mission to enhance bi-regional partnerships between the European Union (EU) and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Brunori has had a distinguished career with notable roles in the United Nations. Before joining EU-LAC, he served as the Regional Representative for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Central America and the English-speaking Caribbean (2020-2024). His previous roles include OHCHR Representative in Colombia (2018-2020), Guatemala (2010-2016), and Mexico (2008-2010).

Brunori has received several prestigious awards, including the Orden del Quetzal en grado de Gran Cruz from Guatemala and the Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia from Italy.

He holds a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences from the Università degli Studi di Pisa. He is fluent in Italian, Spanish, and English.
