In the framework of the call for expressions of interest to participate in the EU–LAC Multi‑stakeholder Forum on the Long‑Term Care Economy, to be held on 5 May in Berlin, nearly 70 applications were received from organisations and experts across 18 countries in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The organisations and experts who submitted applications will be contacted in the coming weeks, once the selection process has been completed, and informed of the outcome of their candidacy.

Are you – or your organisation – specialised in long-term care? Would you like to share your experience and knowledge with other individuals and institutions that provide care services or conduct research on the topic, whether in a European, Latin American, or Caribbean country? Are you interested in contributing to decision-making and to the design of public policies aimed at reforming and transforming long-term care systems in Europe, Latin America or the Caribbean?

If so, the EU-LAC Foundation invites you to submit an expression of interest to participate in the Multi-Stakeholder Forum: “The Long-Term Care Economy in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean: Different Trajectories, Shared Challenges?”, which will take place on 5 May 2026 in Berlin.

Following the historic launch of the EU–LAC Bi-regional Pact on Care at the EU–CELAC Summit in Santa Marta, Colombia (2025), this forum seeks to translate political commitments into concrete solutions. We aim to bring diverse voices into the dialogue from academia, public institutions, development banks, private sector and civil society who wish to share good practices and proposals on:

  • the formalisation of employment, professionalisation, skills development and improved working conditions for carers in the long-term care sector;
  • financing strategies for sustainable social protection systems and investment in the “silver economy”;
  • innovative multi-stakeholder cooperation in the provision of long-term assistance and care at the local level (family / community / public sector / private sector).

Why participate? This forum will provide a unique opportunity to directly influence the work agenda of the network of National Focal Points of the EU–LAC Bi-regional Pact on Care and to connect with decision-makers from both regions.

How to participate:  Please complete the application form and send it by email to Odilia Abreu (eulacwin@eulacfoundation.org), copying Anna Barrera (abarrera@eulacfoundation.org).

Application deadline: Tuesday, 17 March 2026

Financial support: The EU-LAC Foundation has limited funds available to cover travel and accommodation costs for selected applicants.
