World Economic Forum on Latin America 2016

Between June 16th and 17th, the World Economic Forum on Latin America 2016 took place in Medellin, Colombia. During the conference, renowned figures and leaders from various sectors such as politicians, academic thought leaders and journalists discussed ideas to promote and strengthen sustainable economic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean. Key issues were the navigation of regional and global priorities, the strengthening regional resilience and the lead for a prosperous future.

The President of the EU-LAC Foundation, Leonel Fernández, attended the Forum as panellist and highlighted the economic growth opportunities for Latin America and the Caribbean due to the economic deceleration of China.

Mr. Fernández was joined by Felipe González (former president of Spain), Ernesto Samper (former president of Colombia) as well as Ricardo Villela (executive vicepresident of Itaú Unibanco, Brazil) in the discussion panel on the present reality of Latin America.
