We are pleased to announce the winning application for the Specific Call on the Caribbean in the Partnership EU-CELAC, which was launched in October 2015, and evaluated by a Selection Council conformed by three members of the EU-LAC Foundation.
The selected project was proposed by a group of five researchers from the Institute of International Relations of the University of the West Indies (Trinidad and Tobago) led by Dr. Annita Montoute. The research will attempt to answer, among others, the following questions: How can the Caribbean’s participation in CELAC be strengthened to boost CELAC and the CELAC – EU relationship?; which areas of CELAC’s proposed 2020 Development plan should be prioritised and which others should be added to equally and equitably address the development needs of the Caribbean and by extension, facilitate joint action between the Caribbean and Latin American sub regions in CELAC?; what are the areas of commonality of interest among Caribbean and Latin American counterparts in CELAC which can be a springboard for greater collaboration?
This Specific Call is part of the EU-LAC Foundation’s effort, operated by its programme “Explore”, to stimulate debates on issues relevant to the EU-LAC agenda through studies and publications and to explore venues of cooperation between sub-regions that have historically not had direct political, economic or social links, in order to provide substantial contributions to further the progress of the Strategic Partnership with tangible results in practice.
