VVOB vzw

VVOB has more than 35 years of experience in sustainably improving the quality of education systems. As a technical partner of ministries of Education and local education authorities, VVOB develops the capacity of these duty bearers to achieve the targets set out in their own education policies. For maximum sustainability, VVOB works in cooperation with local and international organisations.
VVOB focuses on early childhood, primary and general secondary education, and on secondary technical and vocational education and training (TVET), identified by SDG 4 as specific target areas for quality education. Equity, particularly gender equity, and inclusivity in education are at the forefront of all VVOB’s interventions.
In Latin America, VVOB works in Surinam and Ecuador. VVOB's focus in both countries is quality TVET, skills, and transition of students to the world of work.
In Surinam, the iGROW-project tackles gender-based violence and promotes sexual and reproductive health and rights in lower secondary TVET schools, thus contributing to safe school environments for all students. The PROGRESS LBO-programme on the other hand ensures teachers and school leaders of lower secondary TVET schools have the necessary pedagogical skills to improve the quality of teaching and learning of all students in LBO schools.
In Ecuador, the F-EFTP-programme strengthens the competencies of teachers and school leaders of TVET schools to provide quality education and to improve the technical and generic skills of their students in order to increase their
chances of decent work. The programme also aims at linking schools and the private sector, so students and teachers can benefit from on-the-job experiences and practice with decent equipment.
VVOB offers students from Flemish schools the opportunity to do an internship in one of its partner countries, including in Ecuador and Surinam. Moreover, its programme SchoolLinks connects schools from Belgium with schools from a different country, including Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru and Surinam.
