Visions and models of regionalism and integration in contemporary Latin America

The Ibero-American Institute is organizing a conference about visions and models of regionalism and integration in contemporary Latin America. The event will take place on 10 May 2013 at 7 pm at the Ibero-American Institute’s Simón Bolívar Hall in Berlin.

The sociologist Dr. Raúl Bernal-Mezal (National University of Central Buenos Aires) will analyse the current models of regionalism and integration in Latin America (MERCOSUR, UNASUR, ALBA, CELAC), as well as coinciding and divergent visions of these models, in particular, the visions of Brazil, the open regionalism of Chile and Bolivarian regionalism. Moreover he will speak about the possible evolution of these models in the future, regarding the relations with China, the United States and the European Union.
