University of Cyprus Library

The University of Cyprus Library was established in 1992 at the same time as the University of Cyprus was established as the first public university in Cyprus. The Library serves the university community of more than 10,000 students and researchers, as well as the general public. Its collections include more than 500,000 volumes of printed material as well as an abundance of electronic sources rendering it the most prominent information center in Cyprus. Its basic services such as access to catalog, loan renewals, database searching are available online thus special training and guidance on how to use them is offered on a regular basis.

The Library became a coordinator of establishing the Cyprus Library Consortium in 2018, which at the moment counts 7 academic libraries. As the largest library in the country, it also coordinates various project initiatives such as digitalisation or the Union Library Catalog.

Since 2012 the Library of the University of Cyprus also functions as a European Documentation Centre, making publications of the European Communities or any official information regarding the EU activities available to the public.

The Library moved to its new premises in late 2018, a brand new five-storey building designed by internationally acclaimed architect Jean Nouvel, which provides state-of-the-art design and equipment, and has a capacity of 900 seated users.
