Stop feminicide in Europe and in Latin America: 7th conference on feminicide

Organised by the Greens/EFA Group in cooperation with Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, CIFCA, Grupo Sur, ALOP, OIDHACO

Feminicide, or the gender-based murdering of women because they are women is a global phenomenon to be addressed with extreme urgency by all policy makers.

Over the past years, national and international legislation has tackled the problem. Nevertheless the States are failing to eradicate it as the number of feminicide is increasing worldwide.

In their last EU-Latin American and Caribbean (CELAC) Summit, in Santiago de Chile, in January 2013, Heads of State committed in the EU-CELAC Action Plan to combat the phenomenon.  The EuroLat Assembly will adopt a resolution on feminicide, in March this year. The Post-Millennium Development Goals (MDG) will be established soon. What are our and your proposals? What has to be done to improve laws, and beyond laws?
