Institut des Amériques Pôle Ouest is organizing a Seminar entitled “The West and the Americas”. The event will take place on 3-4 October 2004, in Lorient, France.
The Americas have a unique image among Europeans, evidenced by the various waves of migration between the Old World and the New, or studies comparing the Americas to a promised land, an Eldorado, whether it is the United States, Brazil, the South Cone, or the West Indies, for example. These are the multiple themes that this seminar intends to analyse, through a multidisciplinary panel of perspectives, representations and definitions.
