Round table on the results of the Summit of Heads of State and Government EU-CELAC

mesa redonda

The EU-LAC Foundation, in collaboration with the Embassy of Brasil in Berlin, is organising the Round Table on the results of the Summit of Heads of State and Government EU-CELAC, which will be held on 28 August 2023, in Berlin, Germany.

After eight years, dialogue at the highest level between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean resumed, which is significant for renewing the strategic partnership between the two regions. This takes place in a context affected by factors such as the effects of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, which make it necessary to redefine international relations as a whole and the EU-LAC strategic partnership in particular. The Summit generated renewed expectations about the different modalities that will characterise the new relationship, such as working together to achieve just transformations in the digital, environmental, and economic spheres, as well as human security and energy autonomy. Also, about the crisis of multilateralism and the institutionalisation and predictability of the dialogue process that should strengthen the EU-CELAC strategic partnership.

Thus, the Round Table aims to promote the exchange of ideas and concepts between key actors from the European Union, Latin America, and the Caribbean on the results of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) held in Brussels on the 17-18 of July 2023.

This event is by invitation only.
