Mission of the EU-LAC Foundation to Budapest

The President of the EU-LAC Foundation, Leonel Fernández Reyna and the Executive Director, Paola Amadei, will be in the Hungarian capital, from 14 to 16 November, to participate in the III Hungary-Latin America Forum. The EU-LAC Foundation participates in the Forum since its first edition in 2013.

The Forum organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is part of the "Opening to the South" strategy promoted by the Hungarian government through which several diplomatic missions have been reopened (Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Cuba and Colombia), trade representations have been established and the network of Hungarian commercial aggregates as well as contractual and institutional relationships with the region have been expanded.

The President of the Foundation will be one of the keynote speakers at the opening ceremony of the Forum and in the Panel on High Level Policies in which the different forms of cooperation between Hungary and the countries of Latin America will be discussed; the Executive Director will participate as a speaker.

The work agenda includes meetings with the Secretary of State for the "Opening to the South", Szilveszter Bus, and with the Director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Márton Schöberl, as well as with the Ambassadors of the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC), aiming at discussing the relations between Latin America and Hungary and between both regions in general.

In the framework of this visit, the inauguration of the Photography exhibition "Caribbean Diaries" will be held, as well as the ceremony of the Latin America Awards competition for  projects of students from Latin American faculties and graduate schools.
