Mexican Visualities: Critical Approaches to Identity, Image and Violence

One-day symposium, which will be a forum for discussing the visual representations of violence in Mexico in contemporary and graphic art and activism. Thus, the images will stimulate the debate on the “Mexican identity”, which tends to be associated with folk elements, instead of being understood as a historical process underway. Along this lines, the aim is to create a platform where visual ideas no longer only correspond to a retinal registration, but also resemble the past.
