Meeting with Jorge Werthein, Special Advisor of IICA

The Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation, Dr Adrián Bonilla, met with Dr Jorge Werthein, Special Advisor to the Directorate of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture.



During the meeting, the interest of both entities in contributing to the visibility of the relations between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean through a multiplicity of strategic issues was confirmed. In particular, reference was made to projects of interest to both entities related to sustainable development, climate change, gender, digitalisation and food security. Both entities will work to make visible the work of their counterpart in these areas of common interest and will continue to identify potential activities to be developed jointly during the first half of 2021.

The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture is a specialized agency of the Inter-American System that supports Member States' efforts to achieve agricultural development and rural well-being. It provides cooperation through close and permanent work with 34 Member States on issues such as technology and innovation for agriculture, agricultural health, food quality and safety, international agricultural trade, family farming, rural development, natural resource management and bioeconomy.
