During the meeting between Mr. Mariano Jabonero, Secretary General of the OEI and our Executive Director, Adrián Bonilla, the importance of working together, promoting complementarity and interagency coordination, in the framework of possible joint initiatives in favor of the strategic partnership between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, was discussed.
Likewise, both agreed on the need to make visible the strategic relationship between both regions, particularly in this context of the pandemic, in which it is also necessary to favor multilateralism as the main mechanism for dialogue.
Finally, based on the complementarity of the work agendas, they discussed the relevance of mutually participating in the different spaces for dialogue, as well as the interest of signing a Framework Agreement for Cooperation between the two organizations, which defines possible joint activities and initiatives for cooperation in areas such as Higher Education, among others.
