Long Evening of the Consulate at the EU-LAC Foundation in Hamburg

On May 26, 2016, the EU-LAC Foundation participated for the forth-consecutive year in the Long Evening of the Consulates, an event organised by the City of Hamburg to learn more about the culture, history and politics of the participating consulates and institutions.

The programme of the evening started with the screening of a film from Slovakia, followed by a presentation of the Jamaican JN Foundation and the Ambassador from Jamaica in Germany, Margaret Jobson, of the photography exhibition “Out of Many, One Jamaica”. This was followed by a presentation of products made of cocoa from Belize, such as chocolate, tea and liqueur, and later on Gruppo Campari offered a presentation on and tasting of Jamaican rum. The event closed with the performance of the Dancing Devils of Corpus Christi from Venezuela.

More than 300 people assisted the activities, which were organised along with some of our Member states, and enjoyed Jamaican finger food and cocktails. Among the participants were prominent figures such as Hamburg’s Secretary of State Wolfgang Schmidt and the Second Mayor Katharina Fegebank.
