Latin American and Caribbean Fall Festival 2026

LAC Herbst 2026

The Latin American and Caribbean Fall Festival will return to Hamburg for its 13th edition under the theme “Shared Horizons”, reaffirming its role as one of the leading platforms for cultural exchange between Germany, Latin America and the Caribbean. The 2026 edition will take place from 5 September to 15 November 2026, offering a programme designed to strengthen cultural, professional and civic ties between both regions.

Part of Hamburg’s cultural calendar since 2014, the Festival was established through an initiative of the Latin American and Caribbean consular corps in the city and the Hamburg Senate. Since 2017, it has been coordinated by the EU-LAC Foundation, consolidating a space that over more than a decade has brought contemporary Latin American and Caribbean artistic expressions to audiences through cinemas, music venues, public spaces and cultural institutions.

The 2026 edition is inspired by the concept of “Shared Horizons”, placing emphasis on the new opportunities emerging from an increasingly close relationship between Europe, Germany, Latin America and the Caribbean. In a context marked by strengthened bi-regional cooperation, the Festival seeks to highlight culture as a privileged space for encounter, dialogue and the building of lasting connections.

Among the initiatives envisaged for this edition are a concert at the Elbphilharmonie, a High-Level Dialogue within the framework of Latin American Day (LAV Tag) 2026, enhanced opportunities for exchange among Latin American and Caribbean diasporas living in Hamburg, and a new edition of the Ibero-American and Caribbean Film Week, which will continue to present a curated selection of contemporary productions and foster encounters between filmmakers and audiences.

The visual identity of the 2026 Festival revolves around a large hybrid marine creature composed of fragments drawn from Latin American, Caribbean and German folklore. Conceived as a guardian and bridge between territories, the figure symbolises diversity, shared memory and the coexistence of multiple identities within a common cultural space, encapsulating the spirit of an edition that seeks to strengthen Hamburg’s position as a dynamic cultural hub linking Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

With this 13th edition, the Latin American and Caribbean Fall Festival renews its commitment to developing joint projects, strengthening professional networks and promoting an active Latin American and Caribbean presence that engages directly with Hamburg’s open, port-city and global identity.
