The Ibero-American Multilateral Agreement on Social Security

The Ibero-American Multilateral Agreement on Social Security is a pioneering initiative to guarantee the rights of migrant workers and their families, estimated by ECLAC at more than five and a half million people, between the 22 countries of the Ibero-American Community. The Agreement brings together the general principles at international level and is in line with national legislation, which enables it to be applied in the area of contributory financial insurance for disability, old age and survivors’ benefits, despite there being large differences between the systems concerned.
