I EU-LAC Congress of Media Editors

From 26 to 29 November, the EU-LAC Foundation organized the I EU-LAC Congress of Media Editors entitled “Investing in Getting to know Each Other - Bi-Regional Perceptions through the Media” in Santiago de Chile. The event was co-organized with the Press Association and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile.

The Congress brought together editors of national-level media, international editors, and editors in chief from the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean. It aimed at providing them with new insights into key aspects of the bi-regional process and its opportunities, as well as challenges, prior to the upcoming bi-regional Summit of Heads of State and Government, to take place in Santiago de Chile in January 2013.

The Congress aimed at enabling media representatives from both regions to provide knowledgeable in-depth coverage of the bi-regional process and its Summit to the general public, thereby increasing mutual knowledge and the visibility of the EU-LAC partnership.

A publication that was distributed to the participants of the Congress can be downloaded here. Along with the event’s programme and the welcoming words of the organizers, it contains a study about the knowledge citizens from Latin America and the Caribbean have about Europe and vice versa.
