FLACSO Argentina

The Gender, Society and Policies Area was created 2001 with the support of the European Union (EU) and UNESCO as an area of excellence and innovation dedicated to the virtual postgraduate training and the development of multidisciplinary research related to gender with socio-historical, economic, cultural and political perspectives at the local, national, regional and international levels. It also brings advice to organizations and advocates for policies and programs reforms related to gender. It is a space for academic reference at a regional level that maintains exchange relations and participates in collaborative projects with numerous universities, research centres and pubic organizations in Latin America and other regions. It involves two lines of action on a regional and international scope: • PRIGEPP: Virtual Training Program on Gender and Public Policy (MA and Diplomas) www.prigepp.org. It is the first virtual postgraduate training program on gender studies and public policy in Latin America. • UNESCO Regional Chair, Women, Science and Technology in Latin America www.catunescomujer.org. It arises from the World Conference on Science for the Twenty-First Century: A New Commitment, UNESCO (Budapest, Hungary, 1999). Both programs have developed a methodology where they provide in a synergistic way continuous training on significant themes related to gender issues at a regional and global level, research, outreach to the community and government sectors and advice for integrating a gender equality approach in the institutions, policies and programs.
