Library of Parliament

The Library of Parliament of Finland is open to everyone. Every citizen has the right to access information held in public documents and records. Most of the Library’s materials are available freely on loan and basic library services are free of charge. The Archive of Parliament is part of the Library.

The Library of Parliament serves as the central library providing materials on the Parliament, law and social and political sciences. The Library also includes documents and publications issued by the European Union and many international organisations and communities, such as the UN and its specialised agencies, the OECD and the Council of Europe.

The Library provides consultation, training and comprehensive online search services. Customer Services gives advice and guidance on how to use the Library, its collections and databases. Information Service assists in the search for legal, social, political and parliamentary information. The Library regularly provides open training sessions on the use of information sources and databases. Training materials as well as specific guidelines for searching information on different subject fields are available online.

Many of the basic library services, like acquisitions and information service requests, renewals of loans and access to collection database are available online. The Library also produces valuable information packages (LATI) on topical legislative initiatives.
