Festival of the Dead and the Living

The EU-LAC Foundation is pleased to coordinate the Latin American Fall again this year. As part of the events, the Rothenbaum Museum of World Cultures and Art (MARKK) and the Círculo Mexicano-Alemán e.V. (CIMA) are pleased to present the "Festival of the Dead and the Living". In recognition of the importance of the Day of the Dead in Mexican culture, the MARKK and CIMA have organised a series of conferences, exhibitions, workshops and musical and artistic presentations to celebrate this tradition.

01.11.2020, 12-15h: Sugar skulls for sale to decorate at home

01.11.2020, 14h: Day of the Dead Altar (designed by CIMA representing the traditions of the state of Hidalgo. On October 31 and November 1, CIMA members will offer explanations of the traditional elements of the altar and the traditions of Hidalgo)

01.11.2020, 16h: Conference "Little Angels - Deceased Children - Muertecitos" with Claudia Chavez de Lederbogen The conference will focus on beliefs and traditions about deceased children from pre-Hispanic times in Mexico, particularly in the Purepecha region of Michoacán.
