The seminar 'European Union - Latin America and the Caribbean relations in the face of COVID-19' was attended by Adrián Bonilla, Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation; Carlos Quenan, Vice-President of the Institut des Amériques and the FAP ALCUE; José Antonio Sanahuja, Director of the Carolina Foundation and Professor of International Relations at the Complutense University of Madrid, and Miriam Saraiva, Associate Professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro. The session was moderated by Susanne Gratius, Professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and President of LASA's Europe-Latin America Section.

The webinar incorporated audience participation through questions to the speakers, in which the importance of multilateralism and the reactivation and updating of existing organisations in Latin America were highlighted as key issues.

The importance of reinforcing a global and multilateral framework to strengthen the effectiveness of the nation state and its capacity for collective response to a global public good such as health was also addressed.
