The EU Malta Summit concluded with the approval of a Declaration on the external aspects of migration

The informal Malta Summit of  the Heads of State and Government of the European Union, held on 3rd February 2017, in La Valleta, concluded with the signing of the Malta Declaration by the members of the European Council on the external aspects of migration: adressing the Central Mediterranean course.

The 28 EU leaders agreed on a set of concrete actions – proposed by the European Commission - to better manage migration flows and save lives on the Central Mediterranean route. The meeting included a discussion among the EU leaders on the future of Europe ahead of the 60th anniversary summit in Rome on 25th March.
