The EU-LAC Foundation was pleased to announce the EU-LAC Just Transitions Forum that was held on 15-16 May 2023 in Barcelona, in a hybrid format.
On 27 October 2022, during the CELAC-EU Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Buenos Aires, the authorities of the countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the Member States of the European Union (EU) expressed their commitment to organise a Summit of Heads of State and Government of both regions to be held in July 2023. Regarding this Summit, the EU-LAC Foundation, whose mandate is to connect the intergovernmental process with the civil societies of both regions, plans to contribute with substantial inputs to this dialogue at the highest bi-regional level.
In this context, we organised the Just Transitions Forum, with the aim of facilitating an exchange and joint work between Latin American, Caribbean, and European representatives of civil society networks and organisations, academia, and international organisations specialised in the subject. The objective was to generate inputs for the adoption of common lines of programmes and public policies, as well as initiatives of civil society actors that help to articulate and strengthen the links between the societies of both regions in the areas of climate change adaptation and mitigation, just energy transition, and inclusive digital transformation.
