The EU-LAC Foundation signs agreement with CAF

The EU-LAC Foundation and CAF – Latin American Development Bank signed an agreement with a view to consolidate and support the bi-regional partnership. CAF’s Executive President, Enrique García, the EU-LAC Foundation’s President, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, and its Executive Director, Jorge Valdez, signed the agreement during the I EU-CELAC Summit of Heads of State and Government in Santiago de Chile.

The Executive President of CAF stressed that the latter is trying to promote a development agenda that sustains the governments and civil societies in the countries of both regions in order to implement public policies and support the bi-regional association. The President of the EU-LAC Foundation highlighted the importance of CAF in consolidating the bi-regional association, given its role in the creation of infrastructure and the process of product diversification in its member States.

The agreement will seek to promote several projects in order to strengthen the ties between the public sector and civil society actors, such as universities, business groups and think tanks. Moreover, it is foreseen that the two institutions will exchange information to facilitate the preparation and participation in the following EU-CELAC Summits of Heads of State and Government.
