The EU-LAC Foundation opens its doors to art exhibition

On 11 April 2013 the EU-LAC Foundation opened the first edition of the exhibition series “EU-LAC Arts Sessions – Connecting Cultures”. The exhibition, which runs until 19 April, presents contemporary Peruvian Art at the Foundation’s headquarters. The opening event was supported by the Peruvian Consulate General in Hamburg.

Among the 80 guests at the inauguration were members of the Consular Corps in Hamburg, representing countries of the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as other local invited guests.

The curator, Christina Kleinau, and two of the exhibiting artists, Jessica Schneider and Rosa Tomatis, both from Lima, were present at the Vernissage as well. In addition to the exhibition the guests could get a culinary insight into the country, enjoying typical Peruvian food and drinks.

Hosting this exhibition constitutes an important contribution to reaching the EU-LAC Foundation’s objective of promoting the bi-regional relationship between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean in the areas of politics, economy and culture, as its Executive Director, Jorge Valdez, pointed out in his opening words. Through this event, the Foundation offers a space of encounter between cultures.
