On 13 April, Dr Adrián Bonilla, Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation, met in Berlin with Niels Annen, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (in German Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung - BMZ), to strengthen relations with the German government and explore ways to work more closely together for the benefit of the bi-regional agenda.
The Director presented the Foundation's annual work programme for 2022, highlighting the opportunities for working closely with the BMZ. In turn, the State Secretary gave an overview of the priorities of German cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean and agreed on the interest of a fruitful and mutually beneficial collaboration.
The Executive Director also met with Minister Marcelo Bachechi Pavone, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, and Consul Victoria Codina Seijas. As Uruguay is the coordinator of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Embassies (GRULAC) in Berlin this year, Dr Bonilla invited the diplomatic missions of Latin America and the Caribbean to actively participate in the 2022 edition of the "Latin American and Caribbean Fall" festival in Hamburg, which will take place between September and November this year. In response, the Uruguayan diplomats invited Dr Bonilla to meet with the Heads of Mission in the near future.
Dr Bonilla also thanked the Uruguayan embassy for the voluntary contribution of his country to the operating budget of the EU-LAC Foundation, received a few days before.
The Executive Director was accompanied by Miguel Guzmán, Programme Coordinator - International Projects and Initiatives, and Juan Etchart, Director of Administration and Finance.
