With the Autumn 2013 edition, the EU-LAC Foundation is launching its first open call for research projects on topics concerning the bi-regional relationship. Researchers and consortia may apply for grants of up to 30,000€. The winning application will be chosen by the Foundation’s independent Academic Council, consisting of five eminent experts from the fields of EU-LAC relations, European, Latin American and Caribbean Economics, and Political Science. The deadline for proposals is 30 September 2013.
This Open Call is part of the Foundation’s effort to promote mutual knowledge and visibility of the partnership among the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean. Stimulating debate on issues that are relevant to its agenda enables the Foundation, within its work programme “Explore”, to propose ways of cooperating on these issues in the bi-regional relationship. The EU-LAC Foundation will publish the results of the studies.
The Open Call will be held twice per year, once in the spring (deadline: 31 March) and once in the autumn (deadline: 30 September). Both single researchers and consortia of researchers from the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) can participate. With the support of the EU-LAC Foundation’s European Union grant and funding from the Foundation’s Member States, a sponsorship of up to € 30,000 will be awarded to the winning proposal.
The Academic Council, conformed by five renowned academics from both regions that have worked on the international relations and economics of their home region and bi-regional relations for years, will assist the EU-LAC Foundation by deciding and recommending a winner of the Open Call.
In order to participate in the Open Call, applicants must be affiliated with an EU or LAC research institution and propose a research project, to be carried out in English or Spanish, related to the bi-regional relationship and/or related to bi-regional cooperation.
