The EU-LAC Foundation joins the Consortium of Universities and the “Cátedra Iberoamérica Global”

On 20 May 2013 the EU-LAC Foundation announced its association with the “Cátedra Iberoamérica Global” and the Consortium of Universities associated with the Chair. The launch of the Consortium was celebrated in the framework of a seminar of the “Cátedra Iberoamérica Global”, which was organized by the University of Stockholm, the European Institute of International Studies and the Cervantes Institute in Stockholm.

In the presence of the President of the EU-LAC Foundation, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, the “Cátedra Iberoamérica Global” was inaugurated on 7 May 2013 at the Secretaría General Iberoamericana (SEGIB) in Madrid. The institution was created with the objective of promoting knowledge about and the global projection of the Ibero-Euro-American region.

In her speech, Benita Ferrero-Waldner emphasized the importance of academic cooperation in order to “approach our societies and to turn the bi-regional partnership into a real and a long-lasting one”. For this reason the association to initiatives such as the “Cátedra Iberoamérica Global“ “is a substantial part of the mandate of the EU-LAC Foundation, which is to bring both regions closer together and promote mutual understanding”, said the President.
