EU-LAC Foundation in the Czech Republic to strengthen bi-regional dialogue

Misión de Praga

The EU-LAC Foundation actively participated in a series of strategic meetings in the city of Prague, within the framework of the conference “Czech Republic–Ibero-America: new forms of cooperation in the current geopolitical context”, consolidating its role as a platform for articulation between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the event, the President of the EU-LAC Foundation, José Antonio Arróspide, highlighted the importance of strengthening bi-regional dialogue mechanisms in an international context marked by growing challenges and geopolitical transformations. In his intervention, he stressed that the organisation acts as a forum connecting governments, civil society, and the private sector, facilitating the identification of concrete and viable solutions for both regions.

Arróspide also emphasised the strategic value of preserving and consolidating multi-stakeholder cooperation spaces, which are essential to advancing shared initiatives such as the Global Gateway Investment Agenda, the Digital Alliance, the Alliance for Citizen Security, and the Bi-regional Pact on Care, considered pillars of an increasingly institutionalised common agenda.

Reunión de Praga

As part of the mission, the President of the EU-LAC Foundation, together with the Coordinator of Interinstitutional Relations, Diego Durán Cruz, held a meeting with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Petr Macinka, and Uruguay, Mario Lubetkin, as well as with ambassadors from Latin American and Caribbean countries.

This exchange provided an opportunity to share views on the potential for cooperation between both regions in the current global context, as well as on the role of the EU-LAC Foundation as a facilitator of political coordination and promoter of multi-stakeholder strategic partnerships.

In addition, the delegation held meetings with representatives from academia and the press in Prague, who expressed interest in giving greater visibility to the organisation’s work in Central Europe. These initiatives open new opportunities to strengthen the institutional presence of the EU-LAC Foundation and expand the reach of its bi-regional agenda.
