The EU-LAC Foundation and the Yuste Foundation organise the course "The challenge of working together: EU-LAC relations in the face of major global challenges"

The Yuste Foundation and the EU-LAC Foundation have signed a specific collaboration agreement for the co-organisation of the course "The challenge of working together: EU-LAC relations in the face of major global challenges", which will take place from 20 to 22 July at the Yuste Monastery. The signing of the agreement, signed by the Director of the EU-LAC Foundation, Adrián Bonilla, and the Director of the Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno, was done telematically.

One of the objectives of the course is to analyse the current situation of relations between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean from the perspective of multilateralism. It will also aim to answer the question of how to work together to address common challenges, including: social cohesion, sustainability and the fight against climate change, digitalisation, multilateral institutions and other strategic issues linked to global trends.

The course will also discuss the emergence of new urgencies in both Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean as a consequence of COVID-19: international financing in the light of the situation of financial markets and fiscal policies in Latin America and the Caribbean; the need to strengthen democracy and the rule of law, and thus to strengthen states, their institutions and public services; regional integration; ecological and digital disruptions; internal pacts in Latin America and the Caribbean for social dialogue; and the valorisation of state pacts.

Through the signing of this agreement, both entities reinforce their collaboration, maintaining the alliance and the premise that relations between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean are essential in a globalised world. Both entities have a framework cooperation agreement in place since the beginning of 2021.

The course is organised in collaboration with the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), the Euroamerican Foundation and the University of Extremadura, and it is directed by the director of the EU-LAC Foundation, Adrián Bonilla; Ramón Jauregui; the head of International Relations at the SEGIB and member of the board of the Yuste Foundation, María Salvadora Ortiz, and the president of the Euroamerican Foundation and Yuste Academician, Ramón Jáuregui.
