EU-LAC Cooperation in the 21st Century: Combining efforts in a globalised world

This publication is result of the LACalytics programme launched by the Young Initiative on Foreign Affairs and International Relations (IFAIR) e.V. in December 2015. This initiative is supported by the EU-LAC Foundation and has been under the patronage of the Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean of the German Federal Foreign Office, Mr Dieter Lamlé.

In pursuit of an increase in understanding between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as to raise young people’s impact on foreign policy making, the initiative started off with a call for applications directed to students, recently graduated researchers and young professionals from one of the two regions. From the 211 proposals received, 46 authors originating from 23 countries were selected to work as bi-regional binomials in one of the four thematic fields of the publication: economics, politics, environment and civil society.

The outcome of this process shows that the objective of generating fresh perspectives on important issues of the bi-regional agenda as well as innovative recommendations towards the political decision-making level has been accomplished. The twelve best contributions are now featured in this digital publication.

The publication can be downloaded here in English, Spanish and Portuguese. You can also find other papers available on IFAIR’s website.

On 25th of October 2016, the publication will be presented to the main stakeholders of the EU-LAC partnership during a final conference in the City Hall of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Germany.
