El Salvador became the 21st member to ratify the agreement that will transform the EU-LAC Foundation into an international organisation, thus the 7th State of CELAC to do so.
With this ratification, El Salvador reiterates its commitment to continue supporting the strengthening of the partnership between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, as it has done during the past two years, in the exercise of the presidency pro-tempore of the CELAC.
Since November 2011, the EU-LAC Foundation has been operating with transitory statutes under the German civil law. In this sense, this ratification adds to the required threshold of eight ratifications of each region for the entry into force of the Agreement that allows it to be recognized as a genuine bi-regional organisation and be better equipped to fulfil its ambitious mandate.
