"Dr. José Gustavo Guerrero" Library

At the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, its Library is named “Dr. José Gustavo Guerrero”, in honour of the memory of the Salvadorian internationalist. The bibliographical collection has been enriched by his sons, Gustavo A. Guerrero and Carlos Antonio Guerrero, who donated to the Ministry a part of their father’s personal collection, namely unique works on international law from Dr. Guerrero’s library; they also financed the construction of a building in which this collection is stored.

In addition, the Library preserves some personal belongings such as a graduation cap and gown, gavel, sabre, and the suit worn by Dr. Guerrero during his time as President of the International Court of Justice, as well as various awards he received from foreign governments to honour him and his country, are preserved.

The Library "Dr. José Gustavo Guerrero" is part of a comprehensive plan designed to prepare El Salvador’s future diplomats, and contribute to the successful training and selection of those who will later devote their lives to the diplomatic and consular service.

The Library’s doors are open to Master's students in Diplomacy, staff and officials of the Ministry, Diplomatic and Consular Representations of El Salvador accredited abroad, Diplomatic Corps accredited in El Salvador, national and foreign researchers, university students, and the general public.
