Debate on the Internationalisation of the European Union and Latin American and Caribbean SMEs

In cooperation with the Lateinamerika Verein (LAV), and as part of the event series "Latin America and Caribbean Autumn Festival 2019" in Hamburg, we would like to cordially invite you to the following event: "Debate on the Internationalisation of the European Union and Latin America and Caribbean SMEs."

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) not only form the backbone of the German economy, but also contribute significantly to value creation in many Latin American countries.  SMEs account for a large segment of the European and Latin American business network. Their contribution to national wealth and the creation of employment is widely known.

Based on a study on the internationalization of SMEs commissioned and supported by the EU-LAC Foundation, Prof. Florence Pinot de Villechenon wants to discuss the incentives for Latin American companies to access the European market, as well as barriers.

The speaker, Prof. dr. Florence Pinot de Villechenon is both teacher and researcher at the ESCP Europe Business School, and director of the Centre d'Études et de Recherche Amérique Latine Europe (CERALE) at the ESCP. She also advises the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education. As a member of numerous institutions (eg. "Institute of the Americas", "Maison de l'America Latine"), she contributes to the intensification of relations between Latin America and Europe. Her research addresses subjects as diverse as the EU's policy towards Latin America, European direct investment in Latin America or the internationalization of Latin American SMEs.
