The Czech Republic ratifies the Constitutive Agreement of the EU-LAC Foundation as an International Organisation

On February 20th, the Czech Republic became the 39th Member to ratify the Foundation’s Establishment Agreement that transforms the EU-LAC Foundation into an International Organisation, thus becoming the 21st EU member state to do so.

This ratification attests to the Czech Republic’s firm commitment to the mandate of the Foundation for strengthening the bi-regional relations between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean. The Czech Republic, therefore, contributes to the EU-LAC Foundation’s determining and invaluable role of fostering mutual knowledge and understanding between the respective governments and civil societies.

The Constitutive Agreement entered into force on May 17th 2019, being the very first international agreement negotiated by all 61 Members of the Strategic Partnership between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, thus representing with its entry into force a bi-regional milestone the Foundation.

Authoritative information on the status of the Constitutive Agreement, including information on signatories to the Agreement, ratification and entry into force, is provided by the European Union through the General Secretariat of the Council, which can be accessed here.
