Colloquium 2024: "Social protection systems, public policies and social challenges of ageing in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean".

On the 29 and 30 May, the EU-LAC Foundation will participate as co-organiser of the event "Social protection systems, public policies and social challenges of ageing in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean". The call for specialists and researchers will seek to provide a variety of perspectives on political, social, economic and cooperation issues related to the challenge of population ageing.

The 2024 edition will promote reflections among government representatives and representatives of international organisations, experts and researchers on demographic trends in both regions and, in particular, on:
(i) the progress and challenges of public policies on the extension of social coverage for older persons in Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union;
ii) how the provision of health care (cure) and personal care (care) for people who lose their autonomy is organised socially and economically, at the intersection of public policies, the market and prevailing social, moral and gender norms in families and societies; and
iii) the social and citizenship issues raised by ageing and the presence of older people at local level, highlighting emerging initiatives and projects to address them.
