                                                                                                                         Claudia Pineda
                                                  Programme Manager, Academic &
Scientific Cooperation and Civil Society

A Nicaraguan sociologist (Universidad Centroamericana, Managua), she has a Master's degree in Social Policy (Universidad Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona) and postgraduate degrees in Gender and Development, International Cooperation for Development and Regional Integration. Her area of expertise is Governance with emphasis on Democratic, Secure and Equitable Development. She has worked in public-private dialogue processes on national development strategies, policies, legislation and public programmes and with civil society. She has experience as a director of NGOs, program manager in democracy and human rights issues, and teacher in master's programmes in Central America. She has been an international consultant for the WB, IDB, GIZ, EU, UNDP, USAID, SDC, OXFAM, ECLAC, cooperation agencies of Austria, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, in countries such as Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Suriname. Currently, she works at the regional level of the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean. 


Ernesto Jeger
Programme Manager, Sustainable Development and Economic Issues

Of Hungarian and Brazilian nationalities. Postgraduate in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV). Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of São Paulo (USP). Specialist in Economics from the George Washington University (GWU). Over 20 years of working experience in international development in the areas of public sector management, fiscal affairs, democratic governance, inclusive growth and sustainable development. Previously worked as consultant at the Fiscal Management Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), in the technical supervision of lending operations for sub-national governments. He has served as Governance Advisor and Deputy Head of Office for the UK Government's Department for International Development (DFID) in Brazil. He has also worked as a consultant at the FGV, FIA/USP, FESPSP and FUNDAP in various projects for the modernisation of public policies in Latin America and Africa.


                                                Carlos Maza 
                                          Programme Manager,
Members’ Relations

Of Salvadoran nationality, with master's studies in Diplomacy from the Specialised Institute of Higher Education for Diplomatic Training of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador (IEESFORD) and Bachelor of International Relations from the University of El Salvador (UES), in addition to complimentary certifications in ​​international cooperation. Specialist in regional integration processes, international negotiation and project management and international cooperation, with more than 8 years of experience in countries such as Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and the Dominican Republic. Previously, he served as Director of Project Management and Cooperation for the Central American Social Integration Secretariat (SISCA) based in Panama City, as Senior Officer of International Cooperation for the General Secretariat of the Central American Integration System (SG-SICA), in addition to other work experiences at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, the Embassy of the United States of America in El Salvador, among others.


Diego Durán Cruz
Junior Programme Manager

Of Mexican nationality. Master cum laude in International Relations, European Politics and Society from Humboldt University and Freie University of Berlin. Graduated magna cum laude in International Relations and Diplomacy from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. More than 4 years of experience in international organisations, diplomatic representations and non-governmental organisations in Mexico, Belgium, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy and Germany. Diego has worked on cooperation affairs between Mexico and the European Union, intraregional and interregional integration, multilateralism and, since joining the Foundation, institutional partnerships and the visibility of the strategic association between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition to Spanish, his mother tongue, he speaks English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Russian.


 

                                 Juan Etchart
                                                                    Head of Administration

Of German and Argentinian nationalities. Juan steers the Foundation´s internal processes, notably Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Procurement, Legal and IT. He holds an Economics degree cum laude from the Universidad de Buenos Aires and an MBA from the HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration, along with several specialisation courses, such as an SAP Controlling certificate. He has 20-years work experience in both the private and public sector. Prior to joining the Foundation, Juan worked at leading global consulting and auditing companies, Ernst & Young, Deloitte and Accenture, supporting client in various industries on performance improvement and organisational change. He acquired expertise on international development and multilateral cooperation at SEEK Development (Berlin), the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and the National Ministry of Economy in his home country Argentina. At Ernst & Young, he led projects in the field of international development. Throughout his career, he led large teams (+10 individuals) and acted as a facilitator and trainer for financial controlling, budgeting and reporting, and program management. He fluently manages Spanish (his mother tongue), German and English; and has a good understanding of French, Italian and Portuguese.


Cristian von Dessauer
Administrative Assistant

Of German and Chilean nationalities. Commercial Engineer (Bachelor in Business Administration) specialised in Marketing and Human Resources from the University of Santiago de Chile. Bilingual management assistant in Wholesale and Foreign Trade accredited by DIHK (Deutscher Industrie-und Handelskammertag e.V), Germany. More than 20 years of working experience in the private sector in commercial, service and agricultural production companies in leadership and managerial positions. Extensive knowledge on Strategic Planning, Marketing, Administration, Finance, Accounting, Credit & Collections and Human Resources. Consultant in Controlling for small and medium-sized companies. Former Board member in Trade Union Associations of Producers. In addition to Spanish and German, his native languages, he speaks moderately English and has a good knowledge of Portuguese.


                                          Marcela Melo 
                    Cabinet Manager, Assistant to the Executive Direction

Of Colombian nationality. Master cum laude in Peace and Security Research and Policy from the University of Hamburg, Germany. Professional in International Relations and Psychology with emphasis in social community psychology from Universidad del Rosario, Colombia. More than 4 years of experience in qualitative research with the Command and Staff School of the German Armed Forces (Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr), the University of Hamburg, the University of Rosario, and the Politécnico Grancolombiano in the implementation of programmes with ethnic communities and civil society, Peacebuilding programmes, management of social projects and comparative studies in Latin America and the Caribbean. She also worked at the Colombian Mission to the United Nations in New York, and at the Consulate General of Seville in Spain. She speaks Spanish, English, French, German and Italian.
