Saint Kitts and Nevis ratifies the Agreement that establishes the EU-LAC Foundation as an International Organisation

Foreign Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Mark Brantley announced in a meeting today with Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation, the ratification of the agreement that will transform the EU-LAC Foundation into an international organisation.

The announcement takes place in the context of the first official visit by a representative of the Foundation to the Eastern Caribbean nation.

With this ratification, Saint Kitts and Nevis manifests its commitment to the bi-regional association between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean. The imminent entry into force of the international Agreement will strengthen the Foundation and confer it the necessary status and recognition to fully accomplish the mandate its Member States entrusted it with.

The EU-LAC Foundation was created in 2010 by a decision of the Heads of State and Governments of the 61 Member States of the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, and of the European Union itself. 23 of its Member States have already ratified the international Constitutive Agreement which was open for signature in October 2016. The Foundation is established in Hamburg, Germany, since 2011.
