The Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) and the EU-LAC Foundation strengthen their cooperation

2020-10-22

The European Union-Latin America and the Caribbean Foundation (EU-LAC Foundation) and the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) have sealed their desire for mutual collaboration through the signing of a framework agreement establishing the basis for cooperation in the development of programmes and activities of mutual interest, particularly in the areas of education, science, culture and research.

The agreement signed today by both cooperation organisations lays the foundations for promoting projects in these three strategic areas of the Euro-Latin American and Caribbean region, the largest bi-regional community in the Western Hemisphere. With this agreement, the OEI and the EU-LAC Foundation reinforce their commitment to cooperation as a mechanism to contribute to the visibility and strengthening of transatlantic relations between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Among the commitments made, the construction of a shared space for higher education and research and the promotion of its cultural and creative industries stand out.

The agreement was signed online at a signing ceremony attended by the executive director of the EU-LAC Foundation, Adrian Bonilla, and the secretary general of the Organization of Ibero-American States, Mariano Jabonero, from the cities of Hamburg, Germany, and Madrid, Spain, respectively.
