Monday February 18, 2019
Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut Berlin

Within the framework of this presentation, which is organised by the EU-LAC Foundation with the collaboration of the Political Observatory of Latin America (OPALC) of Sciences Po Paris and in cooperation with the Ibero-American Institute, Prof. Olivier Dabène will discuss, together with a panel of experts composed of Dr Frédéric Louault, Dr Peter Birle, Dr Claudia Zilla and Dr Sabine Kurtenbach, a series of analyses of political and social events in the region over the course of the year 2018.

It will seek to analyse, in the first instance, the events that took place in Venezuela, Nicaragua, Peru, Argentina and Cuba, followed by four historical moments: the creation of the Organization of American States in 1984, the generation of 1968, the transition in Bolivia in 1978 and the 1988 plebiscite in Chile. Subsequently, the results of the 2018 elections will be analysed and finally the issue of the militarisation of police tasks in Mexico and Brazil will be addressed.

The presentation will take place on February 18th of the current year at the headquarters of the Ibero-American Institute in Berlin at 3:00 p.m.

The language of the event will be Spanish.
